The 2025 season of Capital Campaign funded renovation has finished at 1501 Sage Avenue. This summer’s work included two large projects: a sprinkler system throughout the House and addition of rooms in the 3rd Floor locker area. A smaller project, installing an institutional dishwasher and a new pantry sink, is complete.

All drawings are approved by the City of Troy and stamped by a Professional Engineer as appropriate.

The work was nearly complete by Open Up The House Weekend – August 22-24, 2025. Great turnout by alumni and students. HERE are the highlights!

Entire House Sprinkler System

Statement of Work: A House wide sprinkler system will be installed to meet City of Troy and NY State requirements. In addition to 93 penetrations throughout the House to route sprinkler system piping, the current 2″ City of Troy water main will be augmented with a separate 4″ main.

Status (10/03/2025): Sprinkler system is fully pressure tested and charged with water. Inside the House looks good, except for a few small leaks. The City of Troy resolved a leak along the main feed line underneath Sage Avenue.  The system will be drained again if needed to address remaining leaks.

The sprinkler work is complete, pictures HERE!

A significant portion of the sidewalk between the parking lot and the Side Door was impacted by the sprinkler water main installation. The sidewalk from the Side Door to the street was cited by the insurance company. The entire walk has been replaced! Photos HERE!

3rd Floor Locker Area Rooms

Statement of Work: This project will remove all of the permanent lockers on the 3rd Floor and build 5 rooms, a huddle room, and a lounge in the main locker area.  An equipment room for HVAC will be built there and significant space remains to build additional rooms.

Status (10/03/2025): Glass wall in lounge installed. Students have moved in. Flooring has finished. Painting complete. A few pickups remain

Pictures of the entire project can be seen HERE!

Dishwasher and Pantry Sink

Statement of Work: The first part of project is a major rewiring of the dishwasher area to accommodate the 100 amp service required as well as meeting the current electrical code. Wiring in the Pantry area will be brought up to code.

The second part of the project is the installation of a Jackson Tempstar Ventless dishwasher and the installation of the pantry sink.

Status (10/03/2025): Operational Students love the 2.5 minute cycle time! The dishwasher is fully functional as the special soap dispenser has been installed and the dishwasher tested. This dispenser was not included in the vendor’s bid. The pantry sink is fully functional.

The new dishwasher and sink can be seen HERE!
